How Much Does a Personal Trainer Cost in Flanders?

It's one of the first questions I get when someone considers starting coaching. "What does that actually cost?"
A fair question. You want to know what you're getting into before you take the step.
Still, there's no single simple answer. The price depends on the path that fits you: fully online, or a hybrid approach with in-person training added. In this article, I'll first give you a picture of the market in Flanders, and then an honest overview of my own prices.
What does a personal trainer cost on average in Flanders?
Before looking at my own rates, it helps to know roughly what the market looks like:
At a large fitness chain, you'll typically pay €25 to €60 per session with a personal trainer.
Independent trainers usually charge €40 to €100 per hour.
If a trainer comes to your home, you'll often pay €50 to €150 per session, depending on travel time and the type of guidance.
That spread is wide, and that's no coincidence. The price depends on much more than just the hour of training itself. A personal coach who takes the work seriously also factors in travel time, session preparation, follow-up, admin, and communication outside that hour. Think of adjusting your schedule, answering questions, and tracking your progress. All of that happens outside that one hour, but it still determines whether you make progress. In reality, every hour of training quickly costs the trainer about an hour and a half of time.
Why your trainer's training partly determines the price
In Flanders, there is no legal requirement to complete training before calling yourself a personal trainer. In principle, anyone could hang up a sign tomorrow and start training clients, regardless of experience or knowledge. That largely explains why prices in the sector vary so widely. According to an article by Het Belang van Limburg, roughly "half of personal trainers in Flanders have no recognized qualification".
That lack of regulation trickles down to you as a client. A trainer who mostly relies on their own sports experience or completed a short basic course can help you fine with simple exercises.
For anyone who also wants to understand how nutrition, injury prevention, anatomy, and long-term progress connect, that foundation falls short. That's where a large part of the price difference between trainers comes from. It comes down to the time, money, and effort a trainer invested to genuinely master their craft.
I made a deliberate choice to make that investment myself. I completed intensive training programs at the Physical Coaching Academy and BAPT. I'm also internationally certified through NASM and recognized across Europe through EREPS. On top of that, I'm registered with Het Personal Trainer Netwerk (The Personal Trainer Network), a platform of recognized coaches in Belgium and the Netherlands. Finally, I've spent years continuing to deepen my knowledge through self-study in training, nutrition, sleep, health, and lifestyle.
Why I work with programs, not single sessions
I don't offer standalone personal training sessions. Coaching with me is always a structured program.
Why? Because results rarely come from training alone. They come when training, nutrition, lifestyle, and sleep are aligned with each other. A single hour in the gym doesn't solve that.
Within these programs, you do have a choice: fully online, or hybrid with in-person guidance added. That choice makes the biggest difference in price.
Online coaching: my main offer
Most clients choose online coaching. This is my main program: full remote guidance, where we work through a personal plan on strength, nutrition, lifestyle, and sleep.
Try-out: €169 one-time (launch price, normally €209). One month of full guidance, with no further commitment. This way you find out what coaching can do for you before committing longer term.
After that: €209/month, with a minimum of 3 months.
This program is ideal if you can train independently, but need structure, guidance, and someone who thinks along with your entire lifestyle.
Hybrid coaching: online with in-person guidance
Want to train together in person alongside the online coaching? Then hybrid coaching is an option. I offer this in a deliberately limited way, since my focus today is mainly on online coaching. In-person sessions take place in Maldegem, Maarkedal, or Ghent.
Starter pack (try-out): €369 one-time (launch price, normally €485). In this first month, we get to know your body, test what works, and lay the foundation for the rest of the program.
Hybrid coaching is the best choice if you need hands-on guidance during training itself, alongside the online follow-up.
What do you get for that price?
Whether you choose online or hybrid, you always get guidance across four pillars: strength, nutrition, lifestyle, and sleep. These four are connected. A good training schedule has little effect if your sleep stays chaotic or your nutrition has no structure.
That's why I always look at the full picture, not isolated parts. You're not paying for a list of exercises, but for a system tailored to your life.
How do you choose what fits you?
If you recognize yourself in any of these situations, coaching adds real value:
You've tried to live healthier before, but keep falling back into old patterns.
You carry a lot of responsibilities, so self-care often ends up last on the list.
You depend on temporary motivation because you don't have a system.
You're not quite sure what balanced eating looks like for you.
You lack the structure to consistently stick to your goals.
You feel tension in your neck, shoulders, or hips from a lot of desk work.
The only remaining question is: online or hybrid?
Can you train independently and mainly need structure, a plan, and weekly follow-up? Then online coaching is the right choice.
Would you rather have someone next to you during training itself, for guidance and correction on the spot? Then you choose hybrid.
Frequently asked questions about the cost of a personal trainer
What does a personal trainer cost on average per hour in Flanders?
Expect €50 to €90 per hour with an independent trainer, and €25 to €60 per session at a fitness chain. With me, you don't pay per single hour, but through a program starting at €169 for the first month.
Is online coaching cheaper than in-person personal training?
Usually, yes, since travel time, rental costs, and equipment fall away. With me, online coaching costs €209 per month, compared to a minimum of €289 per month for hybrid coaching with in-person sessions added.
Why doesn't Timon Dhaeze work with single sessions?
Because lasting results rarely come from training alone. Coaching with me is therefore always a program where strength, nutrition, lifestyle, and sleep are addressed together.
